Meeting Minutes January 28

Things are beginning to come together for our Habi-events! Keep your eyes open for updates on Habijam and promotions for Habijam. We are going to need everyone’s help in chalking and handing out flyers to get the word out!

Sorry about the late notice for anyone who was planning on going canning Friday January 30th, but it has been cancelled. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Lots of exciting things to come,

Have a great week!

Meeting Minutes January 14, 2009

Hey everyone! We had our second meeting this past Wednesday to discuss up and coming events. Habijam is coming along nicely; the date has been set for March 5th in Mandell Theater. As the date approaches we will be doing a couple of different promotions for the concert, one of which will be chalking in the academic buildings on campus. We are anticipating on chalking throughout the month of February; it should be a fun way to get the word out (more details next week).

Also, we discussed changing the day of canning from Friday January 30th to a different day during that week around the same time (2:30 – 5pm). We have set up a poll! So if you plan on attending canning please vote for the best day for you (if more than one works, you are able to choose more than one; again please only choose days that you actually plan on attending).

We have a lot planned for the year so keep checking the website for updates!

Have a great week and keep warm!

What is the best day of the week to go canning? When are you most available to go canning?

Canning Friday January 16- Wait…What Is Canning?

We will partaking in the first canning event of the new year this Friday from 2:30-5:00 pm!  For all available members please sign up at signup.duhabitat.org to get an accurate count of  expected “canners.”

Some of you may be wondering what exactly is canning?  Well, canning is a fund-raising  event that Drexel Habitat for Humanity does every two weeks.  There is no food involved, only hard hats, big voices, and warm smiles are needed.  Habitat for Humanity members meet at the Habi-Office and travel as a group to the designated location for that canning event.  ”Canners” take their hard hats and ask for donations from busy onlookers and people passing by to support Habitat for Humanity.

In the past, 30th St Station has been the main location where canning takes place. This new year we will be expanding to other busy locations throughout the city to make sure we get as many donations as possible.  It’s a fun event and a great way to get to know other Habitat members while serving a greater purpose.  See you there!!!

January 7 meeting minutes!

We had an awesome first meeting with our new executive board this week! Congratulations and thank you to everyone who helped out with Rake-A-Thon this year. We raised a total of $4,600; $2,000 of which went to us. Great job guys! As you can see the new website is up and running so from now on the minutes will be posted exclusively on the website and not emailed, so try to check it frequently for any updates! We also got a donation from ImageUSA of $100 to Home Depot! Thank you Tony!

The event Act! Speak! Build! week is coming up on March 30th-April 5th, more details after next week!  Also keep the date Saturday April 4th in mind for Build A House, Build A Dream event (volunteers needed to help out set up and such), again more to come as we get closer to the date.

Finally: We will be going Canning next Friday January 16th and Friday January 30th from 2:30-5 pm; as always meet in Habitats office on the third floor of MacAlister.

Have a great week everyone! We have a lot planned for this quarter, it’s going to be very exciting!
